| Dick Dale is 61 years old and still rocks
with the best of them. As testiment to that, he played to
a sold out crowd at the Sapphire Supper Club here in
Orlando. The crowd was mixed about 60%/40% new younger
fans and older fans. He tore up the stage for a little
over two hours which included his non-encore. Rather than
leave the stage for 15 minutes or so, Dick just says that
he does not play those games and kept playing for another
15 minutes till the end of the show. Having seen him
about six times in the last few years, I can honestly say
that this show was the best one yet. Dick was in an
extreamly good mood. Maybe it's because all the young
college age girls were going nuts over him. (He said that
they generally get less interested when he tells them
he's 61 years old!!!) The show included something of a
first...an acoustic set with Dick playing some classical
influenced music. Overall, the show got a solid Spinal
Tap 11. Murf says that the Dick Dale show is a definate
"must see".
