G-3 Concert Ver 3.0
Satriani, Vai, and
Jon Petrucci & Guests
The third release of the G-3 show rolled into Orlando on
Sunday the 22nd of July. This release was one of those magical nights
that we all have every now and then. The show started early (6:45) and
John Petrucci came out and played a full set of new music. Awesome
stuff with Dave Larue on bass. Dave and John get the musical Oscar for
the tightest bass/guitar combination of the evening. Most of the
compositions were similar to his work with the Liquid Tension
Experiment.
Steve Vai was the next up and as usual he had the best
show. He was also the crowd favorite if you consider the way the crowd
surged towards the front of the venue when he came on. With Mike
Keneally on guitar and Billy Sheean on bass, he put on a solid set of
guitar pyrotechnics. Musical Oscar for the best show of the evening.
Satriani's set was by far one of the best I've seen
from him. His sound was absolutely perfect and his playing was spot
on. Musical Oscar for the best sound of the evening.
For the encore, all three guitar players came out, all
three bass players came and and THEN they called out Steve Morse to
make it either G-4 or G-7 depending on how you wanted to look at it.
They all had big grins on their faces and were have a blast playing
"Le-Grange", "Little Wing", "Voodoo
Chile", and "I'm Down" to a screaming audience. All in
all a fantastic show for $30.50.
Photos are here because of a semi cooperative security
guard and a friend of mine who flew in from France for the show.
